David Landon “Lanny” Sterling

The Empire Area Community Center has lost a valued member and dear friend. Lanny Sterling passed away June 5th. The community is shocked over this unexpected and very sad news. Lanny joined EACC in January of 2013. He immediately volunteered to take on the responsibilities as treasurer which he continued for the next five years. Lanny also worked tirelessly with venue owners to secure a location each month for the Emergency Fund Concerts and personally hand delivered the promotional items for each one. Lanny was chairperson for the Anchor Day street dance. He was in the process of organizing our next street dance in July at the time of his death. Lanny’s love for the community of Empire and the people in it were evident in all his ever so kind and generous acts. Our hearts go out to Lea Ann, his wife and his children. There are no words to express how much this very special man will be missed. This bio is just one small chapter of Lanny's life in Empire, Lanny has a long list of other contributions and service to the Empire Area.

Donations are being accepted in Lanny's honor.  See our Donation Page for the options.
